CLM-0002 — شهر (month) occurs 12 times

COUNTING_RULE_DEPENDENT Audit report · deterministic reproduction

1 · Claim as commonly stated

The word شهر in the singular occurs exactly 12 times in the Qur'an, matching the months of the year.

Source note: Circulates alongside CLM-0001 in the same literature; earliest precise source not verified.

2 · Reproduction method

Declared counting-rule matrix, executed against corpus quran:hafs-kufan:v1. Full rules, counts, and sample locations: EXP-0003.

3 · Result

Reproduced exactly under the same declared rule as CLM-0001 (surface-clitic-stripped-singular) = 12, composed of شهر 4, الشهر 4, شهرا 2, بالشهر 1, والشهر 1. Three other declared rules give 4, 10, and 21 (the root rule also gives 21, including plurals أشهر/شهور and dual شهرين).

4 · Sensitivity to counting rules

COUNTING_RULE_DEPENDENT — holds under one of five declared rules; the rule is the same one that reproduces CLM-0001, which is the pair's strongest property.

5 · Statistical context

STATISTICALLY_UNASSESSED — same reasoning as CLM-0001, including the surrogate non-applicability note (frequency-preserving surrogates cannot test count equalities); additionally, small targets like 12 are hit by many possible sub-family counts, making unmodeled surprise even weaker.

6 · Best argument in favor

The identical symmetric rule reproduces both companion figures (365 and 12) with no per-claim tuning.

7 · Strongest objection

A pair of rule-dependent counts is still rule-dependent; without a preregistered rule and a null model, symmetry is suggestive at most and probative of nothing.

8 · All recorded objections

9 · Final status

COUNTING_RULE_DEPENDENT

10 · Public summary

The 12 count is real under the same declared singular-unsuffixed rule that yields 365 for يوم, and false under the other natural rules tested (4, 10, 21). The registry records exactly which five word-forms make up the 12, and why no conclusion beyond rule-dependence is warranted.

11 · Reproduce it yourself

python3 services/research-worker/scripts/run_experiment.py data/research/specs/EXP-0003.json — the registry entry lives in data/research/claims.json; the result files record input checksums and environment.
